How to tell a good price
- Know exactly what you have. Model, storage and condition: on an iPhone, Settings → General → About gives the model and capacity, and Settings → Battery shows the battery’s health.
- Get two or three quotes for that exact phone. Our buyback price index lists the whole iPhone range on one page.
- Compare money with money. A credit of the same amount is worth less than cash: you can only spend it in one place.
- Ask what happens after the check. A good price is firm. Be wary of mail-in quotes that drop once the phone has arrived, when sending it back costs you time.
- Look at the condition grading. “Like new” means no visible marks and a healthy battery. If a buyer grades your phone down, ask them to show you why.
Red flags
- A price far above everyone else’s that only holds “subject to inspection” after you ship.
- Payment by cheque or “in a few days” when you came for cash.
- No ID asked: a buyer who checks neither who is selling nor whether the phone is stolen is not a serious buyer.
- Pressure to decide right now. A real quote stays valid: at SubSell, the cash price shown is guaranteed for 24 hours once your request is sent.
Where to find a good price in Montréal
For an iPhone in good shape, a buyback shop that publishes its prices is the shortest way to a good, firm price. Our Sell page shows each model’s cash price, every capacity on the model’s own page, and the iPhone value guide explains what moves it. For a broken phone, a shop is often the only good price you will get: we buy those too, at a price given after a free check.
